Our Story
Harmony Public Charter School was founded on the belief that strong education is built through community, culture, and academic excellence.
Our school embraces an Africentric educational philosophy that recognizes the rich heritage, history, and global contributions of African civilizations while fostering respect, understanding, and unity across cultures.
By combining Alberta curriculum standards with a structured learning environment, Harmony Public Charter School prepares students to become confident learners, responsible citizens, and future leaders.
At Harmony, we believe the success of every child is strengthened by the partnership between school, family, and community.

I am honoured to serve as the inaugural Principal of Harmony Public Charter School.
Opening a new school is meaningful work. It is an opportunity to build something with intention, care, and purpose. Harmony’s charter closely aligns with my professional values and with my Master’s work in culturally relevant teaching. I believe deeply that every student is capable, valued, and deserving of an equitable, meaningful, and empowering education.
I have worked in education since 2000 and have had the privilege of teaching and leading in rural, urban, and international school settings. Throughout my career, I have taught students from Kindergarten through Grade 9 and have served in a variety of leadership roles, including teacher, curriculum lead, vice principal, and principal. My leadership has been grounded in strong relationships, clear communication, collaborative school culture, and practical systems that support student learning, well-being, and growth.
As we begin Harmony’s inaugural year, we are working to build a learning community grounded in Africentric education, academic excellence, cultural identity, belonging, and intercultural Harmony. This work will take time, reflection, and partnership. It will require us to listen, learn, adjust, and grow together as we develop the routines, relationships, and practices that will shape our school culture.
At Harmony, we are committed to creating a school environment that is inclusive, responsive, and intentionally designed to support the academic, social, emotional, and cultural growth of every student. We know this work cannot happen in isolation. Families, caregivers, Elders, mentors, staff, students, and community partners all play an important role in helping our school become what it is meant to be.
Together, we have the opportunity to build strong learners, strong leaders, and strong communities while preparing our youth to contribute with confidence, respect, purpose, and pride in a multicultural world.
